Southern Sweet Tea

I am not from the south and I have never been there, but I hear people talk about southern sweet tea and how delicious it is and have always wanted to try some. I love tea hot and cold so I am not picky when it comes to tea, it’s just got to taste good :) so I searched for a recipe to try and then tweaked a little. It turned out great and I will be making this all summer long.

I would love to hear what recipe you make for iced teas!

This southern sweet tea is the perfect beverage on a hot summer day. Prepare a large batch to share! FrenchToasty.com has lots of beverage and tea recipes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tea bags
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (I like it with only 1/2 cup but the full cup gives you SWEET TEA)
  • 8 cups water (give or take a little)

Note

You can serve with lemon or mint, both optional. Tea is excellent by itself.

Directions

Step 1
In a large pot heat water to just right before boiling.
Step 2
Add sugar to hot water and stir to dissolve, if you add the sugar when it's cold it won't dissolve and might be grainy.
Step 3
Add tea bags and give a little stir to get your tea bags activated. Cover and set timer for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Remove tea bags and chill tea. Or pour over ice and serve.

Grandma Lily’s Irish Cold Remedy Drink

I had a cold the other day, that lasted for two weeks :( I seriously thought it was never going to leave. I was miserable and I couldn’t take any cold medicine and then my mom told me what her mom came over and made me what her mom would always make her when she was growing up. It hit the spot, soothed my sore throat and got more fluids in me, plus it was the middle of January and a hot drink is always nice on a cold day.

I do not claim to be a doctor but this natural remedy is perfect to soothe a sore throat. and I really hope it helps you if you are feeling under the weather.

Creamy and Decadent Crockpot Hot Chocolate

This drink reminds of being a kid and coming in from playing in the snow and getting to warm up with a big mug of hot chocolate. What kid doesn’t love hot cocoa with mini marshmallows floating on top? Let me re-word that, what adult doesn’t love hot cocoa with mini marshmallows? This is not the recipe I’d make everyday because it is definitely on the sweet side, but it’s best piping hot on a cold and blistery day.

This hot chocolate would be great for a winter party, Christmas morning or decorating the tree. I made this recipe most recently for my daughters 2nd birthday party and the kids loved it. This decadent hot chocolate is the perfect recipe for your family this winter. Enjoy!

Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade

This lemonade recipe is full of flavor and so fruity. Everyone has tried strawberry lemonade but with the addition of rhubarb it is a refreshing new taste. I love lemonade and every summer my dad gives me tons of rhubarb so I was excited to try this lemonade recipe I found on Pinterest. I changed the recipe a bit to my liking, so I hope that you enjoy my adaptations.

Even if you don’t have any sunny days in your immediate forecast make this lemonade anyway because it tastes like summer and will make you feel like you are lounging outside soaking up some rays.
