This turned out to be an incredible addition to our day so I’m glad she asked for it. After being in Maui a week I’ve been trying to replicate a smoothie we got from this great shrimp taco bus, yes the shrimp tacos were amazing also. But back to the smoothie, my daughter sucked it down and loved it, so I knew she’d love it if I could make it at home.

I got some amazing champagne mangoes at whole foods the other day. They are so juicy and flavorful, I knew they’d be great in a smoothie. I added a banana and a handful strawberries and wha la a delicious fruit smoothie.

Green Smoothie

My husband, daughter and I drink green smoothies every morning. I was nervous to try this because I wondered how it would taste, but it is actually very delicious and a great start to my morning and I can know that my family is getting a healthy breakfast.

It can be hard to make sure that a 1 year old eats lots of greens but she loves these smoothies. She hears the blender turn on and comes running to the kitchen for her “smooee!”  I hope your family enjoys these also.

Green Smoothie

Ingredients

1 T. flax seeds
1 green apple (I leave the skin on my apples because my blender does a great job at pulverizing but if your worried remove)
1 orange (skin removed)
1 cup kale
1 cup spinach
1 banana, peeled
1 cup ice
1 cup water, sometimes a little more depending on how smooth or thick you want

Directions

Blend all ingredients in blender until completely blended and smooth. Pour in glass and enjoy.

Time: 5min
Yields: 2 16oz Smoothies

Throw in blender

Enjoy!

You can add strawberries, blueberries or juice (instead of water) to sweeten the drink. Please let me know what ingredients you like to add to your green smoothies.
